Our Motto is "We Serve"
"Once individuals link together they become something different.... Relationships change us, reveal us, evoke more from us. Only when we join with others do our gifts become visible, even to ourselves."
- Margaret Wheatley & Myron Kellner-Rogers
Eden Prairie Lions Club is located in the city of Eden Prairie, a prosperous Minnesota community of over 60,000 residents located just west of Minneapolis.
We are men, drawn together in a spirit of service and fellowship, who volunteer our time and talent to humanitarian causes in our local and world communities. By conducting service projects and raising funds, we strive to help those in need, wherever need exists. Our motto is “We Serve.” Today our Club has over 100 members.
Our Local History
In 1961, the Eden Prairie Lions Club was officially chartered with 41 members. At the time, Eden Prairie was still a rural village of only 2,000 people. The club was to meet on the first and third Mondays of each month to discuss community events and projects including: providing eye glasses to the community, holiday events for the school, a fund-raising project selling light bulbs, and organizing a summer recreation program.
Between continued fund raising for local music education, sports, and theater, the Lions held the first Schooner Days event in June of 1964. The event was held in a member's pasture on Riverview Road and included a good-sized parade of four high school marching bands, procession of kids, floats, and more.
As Schooner Days became bigger and raised more funds, the Lions Club eagerly invested back into the community. This included purchasing Eden Prairie's first fire truck and rescue vehicle, supporting both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Little League Baseball, student programs, and a pediatric eye clinic at the University of Minnesota.
The Lions Club of Eden Prairie continues to serve the community locally and internationally. Find out more about us.
